A Proud History
Now referred to the Le Mars RCF, the Plymouth Co. home shown here is one of the two large residential care facilities owned and operated by The Pride Group. Members who reside here have access to 24-hour support staff as well as adult basic education and work program opportunities.
1986
A non-profit corporation was formed! The first Board of Directors were: Richard Porter, President; Dale Jacobsen, Vice-President; Dorothy Porter, Secretary; Kathryn Murphy, Treasurer; and the fifth member was Jerold Dykstra.
1988
A new Group Home was built by Plymouth County in Le Mars, and Plymouth Life, Inc. purchased a home from Gehlen Catholic School, and these homes were named Pride I and Pride II, respectively, and were opened for business at this time.
July, 1988
The first Group Home owned and operated by Plymouth County was also leased to Plymouth Life, Inc. and was named the R.E. Porter Home.
December, 1989
Plymouth Life’s Board of Directors formed another Corporation named D.A.L.E. Inc. that was to enter into a HUD contract to remodel three Four-Plex’s and a Duplex for Developmentally Disabled Individuals. This project will house 16 people. D.A.L.E. Inc. stands for Disabled Adults Living Environment.
August, 1992
A house was purchased in Le Mars to provide services.
February, 1993
Another house was purchased in Le Mars to provide services.
April, 1993
We began to offer services in Cherokee for Supervised Community Living.
June, 1994
The HCBS program was added to Plymouth Life Services. We started providing hourly services to individuals living in the community.
June, 1994
We began a corporation in Cherokee called Cherokee County Residential Services.
January, 1996
A new four-plex was built in Le Mars & opened for services.
August, 1996
Site I in Cherokee was opened to provide waiver services.
1997
Pride II, our second group home, changed licensure to be a waiver home, Site I.
October, 1997
CCRS purchased a house in Cherokee to provide services.
April, 1998
Another four-plex was purchased and opened for services in Le Mars.
March, 1999
CCRS purchased a house in Cherokee to provide services.
July, 1999
CCRS purchased a house in Cherokee to provide services.
August, 2000
West Cedar RCF/PMI was opened in Cherokee at the Mental Health Institute.
2001
The RE Porter home was taken down and two new waiver sites were built at that location. Site II was opened in February 2002. Site III was opened in August 2002.
December, 2001
We took over management of Primghar Health Center, a Residential Care Facility located in Primghar.
February, 2004
CBS office in Le Mars was opened.
February, 2005
Site II in Cherokee was opened in Cherokee to provide waiver services.
July, 2005
Plymouth Life, Inc. underwent a fictitious name change. We became The Pride Group, Inc.
December, 2006
Site IV in Le Mars was opened to provide waiver services.
October, 2007
An acreage was purchased in Le Mars to provide services.
February, 2009
Site V in Le Mars was opened to provide waiver services.
February, 2009
DALE I was made into Site VI in Le Mars to provide waiver services.
June, 2009
CCRS sold the house located in Cherokee.
December, 2009
Site III in Cherokee was opened to provide waiver services.
January, 2010
Site VII in Le Mars was opened to provide waiver services.
March, 2010
CCRS sold the house in Cherokee.
December, 2010
Site VIII in Le Mars opened to provide waiver services.
August, 2015
Site IV in Cherokee opened as an ID waiver home.
October, 2015
Glass St. and two homes on Cheyenne Blvd. in Sioux City opened as Hab homes.
March, 2016
The lease was signed to begin our first Day Hab program in Sioux City, Iowa.
May, 2016
Another new home on 30th St. in Sioux City opened as a Hab home.
November, 2016
A 9th site opened in Le Mars.
